Missy (Mary Ann) Long of Vernon, New Jersey, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.

Born on September 14, 1965 in New York City, Missy was the daughter of Edward and Eileen Conroy. She is survived by her sons, Josh and Kyle, her sisters Julia, Deirdre, and Kathleen, brother Matthew, her nephews Ryan, Brendan, Colin, and Patrick and her niece Crystal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Long.

Earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Ramapo College and a Master of Arts in Applied Sociology from Montclair State University. She began her tenure at Ramapo College in 1996 as an Independent Living Counselor and Academic Advisor and was promoted in 2018 to Assistant Director for the Office of Specialized Services. In addition, she served as an adjunct instructor, teaching several sociology courses.

A tireless advocate for students with disabilities, Missy was instrumental in Ramapo’s ascent to be counted among the most accessible and inclusive campuses in the country. Further, her impact can be seen and felt in the many students whose academic journeys and personal growth were strengthened by her counsel.

Missy was a smart, beautiful, successful woman who loved her sons, Josh and Kyle, with all her heart. She was a friend to many and an inspiration to all she met. She will leave a legacy of kindness, hope, and tenacity.
