Obituary

Mary (Mazur) Sorge, age 96, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026. She was

born in Frackville, Pennsylvania, and lived a long and full life marked by devotion to her

family, quiet strength, and lifelong curiosity.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late Vincent Sorge. She is survived by her children

Debra Sorge, Susan Sorge, Jackie Dugan (James), and Peter Sorge (Amy), and a

proud grandmother to eight grandchildren, each of whom brought her great joy. She

was preceded in death by her ten siblings, with whom she shared a close bond

throughout her life.

Mary spent her professional career as an Administrative Assistant at Montclair Kimberly

Academy, where she was known for her reliability, organization, and warm demeanor.

She was a longtime resident of North Caldwell, New Jersey, and later resided in East

Hanover, New Jersey.

An avid reader, Mary faithfully read The Wall Street Journal and kept her mind sharp by

solving Sudoku puzzles. She was also an expert crocheter and needle pointer,

generously sharing her handmade creations with family and friends—each piece a

reflection of her patience, skill, and love.

Please join family and friends in celebrating Mary’s life will be held on January 22, 2026

from 4:30-7:30 PM, at The Conservatory at the Madison Hotel in Madison, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s

Research Hospital, a cause she deeply valued.

Mary will be remembered for her gentle spirit, steady presence, and unwavering love for

her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and grace that will live on

in all who knew her.
