Obituary

Margaret “Peggy” Lavaique, age 82, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026.

Peggy was born on December 15, 1943, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, and later made her home in Wilmington, Delaware, where she spent many years surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly.

Peggy was a funny, kind, and deeply caring sister and aunt. She had a warm spirit and an easy sense of humor that made people feel comfortable and welcome. Those who knew her best will remember her gentle nature, her compassion for others, and the way she showed love in quiet, meaningful ways. Peggy worked in accounts payable at Delaware Hospice, quietly supporting a mission of care that reflected her generous and compassionate nature.

She had a special fondness for wolves, a reflection of her appreciation for strength, loyalty, and the natural world. She was also a devoted animal lover, especially when it came to her beloved cats—faithfully caring for her four indoor cats and keeping watch over thirteen outdoor cats, ensuring they were always fed, safe, and loved.

Family was at the center of Peggy’s life. She was a devoted sister to her late sister, Maryanne Keller, and held close the memory of her parents, Julia and Arthur J. Lavaique, her brother Arthur Lavaique, and her nephew Kevin Keller, all of whom preceded her in death.

Peggy is survived by her loving nieces, Franci Fournier, wife of Paul and Mother of Ethan Moran, and Katie Lavaique, partner of Adam and Mother of Frankie and CJ. She is also survived by her great-nieces, Tara Hofmann, wife of Tim and Mother of Kieva, and Katrina Buckreis, wife of Steve and mother of Alyssa and Lily. She took great pride in her family and cherished her role as Aunt and great-aunt, always offering love, support, and a listening ear.

She will be remembered for her warmth, her humor, and the love she gave so freely—to her family, her animals, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Peggy’s presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved.

“A life made beautiful by kindly deeds. A helping hand for others' needs. To a beautiful life, comes a happy end. She died as she lived, everyone's friend.”
