Obituary

Louise Claire Hollenweger (née Henderson), 67, of Newport, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by the family who loved her at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

Born January 26, 1959, to Harry and Margaret “Peggy” Henderson (née Gallagher), Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Michael Seth Henderson, and her eldest daughter, Emily Claire Henderson.

Louise attended Bridgeton Senior High School and spent many years as a homemaker before becoming a rural mail carrier for the USPS, where she worked until her retirement. She found joy in gardening, cooking, reading, music (from Andrea Bocelli to Linkin Park), and caring for animals. She never met a stranger and had a way of leaving an impression on everyone she encountered. She was always rooting for the underdog, fiercely independent, and an unapologetic nonconformist whose strength and resilience carried her through life.

Louise truly lived up to her name; a pillar of strength and a warrior. She raised three loving, successful daughters and a loving, successful son, and her greatest legacy will always be the family she built. Her children and grandchildren will carry her strength, generosity, kindness, and unwavering spirit with them for generations to come.

Louise is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Sarah (née Gant) Hollenweger of Florida; daughters Hannah Hollenweger of Philadelphia and Maggie Lopez of Millville; and four grandchildren, Joshua Henderson, Morgan Foster, Catey Lopez, and Maisey Lou Lopez, who carries her name; a name meaning strength and warrior. She is also survived by her ex-husband, Sherman G. Hollenweger Jr.; companion Isaac Thompson; sister and brother-in-law Tina and Billy Gale; sister-in-law Elizabeth (née Timmons) Henderson; and many nieces and nephews who affectionately knew her as “Aunt Weasie.”

Louise’s family carries forward a simple truth: family is precious, time is a thief, and forgiveness and grace are among life’s greatest gifts. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, strength, and spirit will live on in everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

At Louise’s request, no services will be held.
