Obituary

Joyce Harrington, 92 of Bethlehem, passed away April 14, 2026, at the Holy Family Senior Living. She was the beloved wife of Patrick Harrington, sharing 67 years of marriage before his passing on March 6, 2021. Born August 12, 1933, in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of Mary (Andreyo) and John Guidon. Joyce graduated from Liberty High School. While raising her four sons, she worked at Western Electric and later at Van Scoy Diamond Mine in Bethlehem.

After leaving Bethlehem, Joyce and Pat moved to Long Beach Island, New Jersey, where they enjoyed the beach, boating, and fishing along with their sons, family, and special friends, Ginny and Ted Haven. Joyce held a bank teller position on the island. Joyce and Pat were supportive of their granddaughters, Brigid and Shannon's Broadway and theater appearances during that time. After 10 years, they moved to Charleston, South Carolina, near their son Pat, wife Karen, and granddaughter Brittany, where Joyce worked at the mall for Estée Lauder. After that, Joyce and Pat moved to the “On Top of the World” retirement community in Florida for 10 more years of new friendships, playing cards, golfing, and traveling. They took their grandsons, John and Stephen, to Disney and Universal. When her mother, Mary Guidon, was admitted to Holy Family Senior Living, Joyce and Pat relocated to the Endless Mountains of Bradford County. Here, they enjoyed living on 80 acres along with visits from Tom, Sylvia, and Stephen, a move that connected them with wildlife and nature. Joyce’s cousin, Marianne McGowan's daughter Karen, and her family lived nearby to visit. This was their home for many years.

Their last move together was to Perkasie to be near her sister, Marge, and family. Marge was a great sister and friend who was a regular shopping partner, and they often spent time together attending many shows at the Sellersville Theater. When husband Pat’s health declined, Joyce cared for him in their apartment until his death. Soon after, Joyce made her final move to Holy Family apartments in Bethlehem.

With the help of her family and many wonderful, supportive friends, Joyce lived independently for four more years. Joyce enjoyed her life and valued her independence. Joyce was an avid sports fan and enjoyed listening to Willie Nelson. She kept up on all fashion trends and had every face cream, lotion, and potion. But her fondness for shoes and cleaning was unmatched. Joyce could detail anything back to new. We joked you could eat off her window sills. If cleanliness is next to Godliness, she indeed has a front row seat. Joyce was a good listener to her many friends and was admired by many. The days are long, but the years go fast. In honor of Joyce, make the best of today. As her mother, Mary Guidon, would often say, “Enjoy Every Minute.”

Joyce is survived by her sons, John of Catasauqua, Thomas and wife Sylvia of Bushkill Township, Patrick and wife Karen of South Carolina, Michael and wife Christine of Barnegat, New Jersey and brother-in-law Ed Harrington and wife Maryann. Also, grandchildren John and wife Renee of Florida, Brittany and husband Michael of Charleston, South Carolina, Stephen of Bushkill Township, Brigid and Shannon of New Jersey. Great-grandchildren include Delilah of Florida, Rosie, Wesley, and Theo of South Carolina. Joyce is survived by her sister, Marge Fitzgerald of Perkasie, and sister-in-law, Juliette Guidon, cousins Maryann McGowan of Florida, Madeline Spanitz of Washington, many loving nieces, nephews, long-time friends, Patty Sabo, Jean Zavacky, and many new friends at Holy Family Apartments. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Patrick, brother John Guidon, brother-in-law Ray Fitzgerald, and daughter-in-law Maureen Harrington.

We would like to thank all who showed kindness to Joyce, especially the compassionate hospice team, her nurses, aides, and staff who cared for her with dignity. Thank you to the priest for his many visits, prayers, communion, and anointings, the hospice Chaplain Tom, who sang to her and made her smile, and Sister Lucy, her friend, who was there for her many times. Joyce was of the Catholic faith and is now in the presence of the Lord. Arrangements will be private.
