Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hoat Phan, a devoted family man, loving grandfather, and pillar of strength, who departed this life on March 26, 2025. He was 89 years old.

Born on October 20, 1935, he lived a life defined by unwavering dedication to his family. He was the beloved husband of Tho Phan for 60 years, a partnership built on respect, love and mutual support. Together, they created a family and managed to migrate from their country, Vietnam to the United States during the Vietnam War.

Hoat Phan was a hardworking and steadfast provider, ensuring his family had every opportunity. He instilled in his children, the values of integrity, perseverance, and the importance of family bonds. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, who brought immeasurable light and laughter into his life. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for generations.

A man of deep faith, Hoat raised his family on the principles of religion and respect, guiding them with strong moral compass and traditional practices of religion passed down to his grandchildren. His commitment to his beliefs was a source of strength and inspiration for all who knew him.

Hoat Phan will be remembered for his kind heart, his passion for public speaking, and his enduring love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.

He is survived by his wife, Tho Phan; his children, Phuong Gnapp, Thach Phan, Vu Phan, Diem Milak, Duc Phan, and Kim Bober; his grandchildren, Lauren Gnapp, Michael Gnapp, Ethan Milak, Ryan Phan, Alexis Milak, Kristina Phan, Brandon Phan, Avery Bober, Logan Bober, Dylan Phan, and Cole Phan; brother Tien (Quan) Phan and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Luan Phan; brother, Cong (Giong) Phan.

A memorial mass to celebrate Hoat Phan’s life will be held on April 5, 2025 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Holy Angels Church, 473 Main Street, Little Falls, NJ 07424.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
