Obituary

Hilda Frances Miller

August 10, 1942 – October 28, 2025

Hilda Frances Miller, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Spring Hill, Florida, on October 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 10, 1942, in Calvert, Maryland, Hilda lived a life filled with compassion, devotion, and grace. She spent most of her years in Rising Sun, Maryland, where she and her beloved husband, Thomas R. Miller, I, shared 56 beautiful years of marriage—raising children, welcoming grandchildren, and creating countless memories that will forever be cherished.

At the young age of 27, Hilda lost her eyesight, yet she never allowed that challenge to define or limit her. With steadfast determination, courage, and faith, she raised five children who would each go on to lead successful, meaningful lives. Her perseverance and strength inspired everyone around her, and her example taught her family that true vision comes not from the eyes, but from the heart.

Hilda’s life was one of service and love. She cared selflessly for others, first providing childcare for some of her grandchildren then tending to her mother-in-law for nearly a decade, and later devoting herself to her husband’s care during his long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Through every trial, Hilda’s gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and quiet strength were a testament to her enduring love and grace.

She is survived by her five children: Sigrid Andrew (Doug), Thomas Miller (Chawan), Larry Miller (Jennifer), Wendell Miller (Teresa), and Leona Meixell; eighteen treasured grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren who will carry her legacy of love, humor, and faith in their hearts for generations to come.

Hilda will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her ability to navigate and give directions to whoever was driving to local towns and cities, her tremendous recall of birthdays and important milestones and her constant ability to make everyone feel valued and loved. Her kitchen was often filled with the smells of home-cooked meals, the sounds of laughter, and the warmth of togetherness—a reflection of her heart and her faith in the goodness of life.
