Obituary

Guerino Bonvini passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026 at his home in Wantage, New jersey with his wife Patricia at his side. He was one of seven born to Nicola and Bruna Bonvini in Orange, New Jersey. The family moved to Livingston, New Jersey, where they grew up together.

Guerino was predeceased by his siblings Sigmundo (Guerino’s twin who died at birth), Rosemary, Sylvia, Sylvio, Norma, his parents, and his beloved niece Jennifer. He is survived by his wife Patricia, step-daughter Marla, her boyfriend Matt, grandson Alex, granddaughter Annabelle and Jennifer’s sister Valerie, his niece. Valerie faithfully came to the house weekly to visit her Uncle Speedy and Aunt Pat. Guerino is also survived by nieces and nephews Mary Ferlando, Rita Greco, Patrick Reynolds, Bernie Panitch, Nick Ivkovich, Silvio Bonvini, Nicole DelPurgatorio, Larry and Mark Kuzma, along with numerous great nieces and nephews.

Guerino became a young business man in 1955 and opened up Bonvini’s pizza with his brothers in Livingston. It would become a pizza parlor that hundreds of people remember today. Hard working and fun loving, he told many stories of his father’s bread business and then later the pizzeria. For many years he continued to cook and make “gravy”, even after leaving the business. To cook to his standards was a heartfelt challenge. To this day, one can read raving reviews..”their pizza was great...on the thin side with a crispy crust, tasty sauce, and an edge to the cheese”. His step-daughter called him the mayor, for the fact that many times being out as family, his last name would be recognized by people no matter the county. The pizzeria patrons were filled with memories of going there and considered meeting him an honor.

His compassion and kindness will be remembered to many people. Although he had no children of his own, he enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and played happily with his grandchildren. Guerino was affectionately known as “Uncle Speedy”, the opposite of how he moved, but the nickname was created with love. His jokes and sense of humor will be missed by many.

A Celebration of Life service will be held privately by the families. Donations can be made to St. Jude in his name.

Heartfelt gratitude is sent to all the caregivers: Karen, Donna, Tara, Kathy, Doris, Janine, Jenna, Cathy, Matt, Marla, and the KarenAnn Quinlan hospice team-all who gave their time, patience, kindness and care selflessly to Guerino. He was given the respect and compassion he always showed others. Guerino, Uncle Speedy, we hope you are finally tap dancing.
