Obituary

George John Levins, 72, of Edison, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, at JFK Hospital in Edison, NJ. Born on April 4, 1953, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. George lived in Fords, and then moved to Edison, where he was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

George was predeceased by his father, George “Curly” Levins. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Eleanor Levins of Edison, NJ, his devoted wife of 48 years, Phyllis Szucs Levins of Edison, NJ, his two children, George Levins of Orlando, FL, and Aimee Levins of Charlotte, NC and his beloved grandson, Rowan Levins-Dawson of Charlotte, NC.

George dedicated much of his career to the Edison Board of Education, serving as Records Control Supervisor. After retirement, he enjoyed working part-time at Costco in Edison, NJ, where his unique wit and critical eye left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers.

A true lover of the Jersey Shore, George was passionate about surf fishing for stripers and bluefish, particularly at Sandy Hook Beach. Even when the fish weren’t biting, he could be found soaking up the sun, maintaining his year-round tan, as friends and family fondly recall. George also treasured family vacations, creating lasting memories with his loved ones in Lake George, New York, and Wildwood, New Jersey, where they shared laughter, adventures, and time together by the water.

Per George’s wishes, a private cremation will be held. His family asks that his memory be honored by sharing stories of his love for the shore and his joyful spirit.
