Obituary

George Paul Alfred Engelmann

June 17, 1953 – March 12, 2025

George Paul Alfred Engelmann, age 71, of Oak Ridge, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, NJ with family by his side.

Born in Teaneck, NJ to George Alfred and Dorothy (formerly Bauer) Engelmann, George spent his early years in Bogota, NJ, graduating from Bogota High School. During his career he owned a Coca-Cola delivery route, then later delivered for High Grade Beverage, Randolph, NJ. In his spare time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, loving the outdoors and being a sportsman with his best friend, John Burger.

George was active during his son Paul’s childhood, coaching his little league baseball teams and traveling with the teams to interstate tournaments. He was well-liked by the kids and their parents, as George always transported players to the various team events. George was jovial and always willing to help anyone with anything.

Surviving George is his loving wife of 39 years, Linda (formerly Gioia), his beloved son, Paul (Maria), of Caldwell, NJ, the lights of his life, his grandson Hunter and granddaughter Harley, his dear sisters Loralee Dougherty (John) of Hazelton, PA, and Gail Engelmann of Montauk, NY, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Carol Smith (Hank), formerly of Bayville, NJ.

Cremation is private. A memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers and to assist the family with medical costs, a GoFundMe account has been established: https://www.gofundme.com/f/engelmann-family-needs-your-support?attribution_id=sl:b683584c-f7e7-4b25-8555-a21dc0d214be&lang=en_US&utm_campaign=man_sharesheet_dash&utm_con
