Obituary

Bruce Hixson, 78, of Manville, NJ, died Tuesday, 6/30/2026, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in New Brunswick and lived most of his life in Manville. He is predeceased by his parents John and Louise Hixson. He is survived by his wife Debbie and children Mel and Shaun and siblings Terry Hixson/Karen Burke, and Linda/Dave Weiss.

After High School Bruce served in the Navy for 4 years during the Vietnam war, serving in Puerto Rico as Fireman at the military airport. His career choices varied from sales representative at Agway in Raritan, Maintenance in Bridgewater schools to Bridge Worker for Somerset County. After retirement in 2015 he volunteered at RWJ Somerset until COVID. Bruce was active in the Manville Scouts from 1993 until his fall in January 2026. They were always in his thoughts and prayers until his passing. He was an active member of the VFW post 2290 Auxiliary since 2016. Serving as chaplain, participating in the Memorial Day parades and other activities.

He was active at Faith Lutheran Church, Hillsborough, NJ serving as choir member, usher and lay reader until his later years and illness.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 25, 2026, at 10 am at Faith Lutheran Church, 381 So. Branch Rd, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. Interment will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 10 am at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, 95 Mount Airy Rd., Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 starting in the chapel
