Obituary

Anne M. Sullivan (née McGovern), 92, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, in Morris Plains, New Jersey. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Anne lived a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and kindness toward others.

Anne was devoted above all else to her family. She was the loving mother of six children: Patricia Decker (Brian), Kathleen O’Donnell (James), Gregory (Sharon), Irene Coleman (Alan), William (Linda), and Anne Marie. She was also a proud grandmother to Katherine Decker, Siobhan Cauldwell, Jack O’Donnell, Christopher Sullivan, Kevin Sullivan, Brian Sullivan, Helen Coleman, Owen Coleman, Rosie Kearns, Matthew Pellechia, Andrew Pellechia, and Emily Pellechia, and a cherished great-grandmother to Liam Cauldwell, Emma Cauldwell, Molly O’Donnell, Hattie O’Donnell, Mac Sullivan, Grant Sullivan, Lily Sullivan, Graham Sullivan, Anthony Kearns, and Thomas Pellechia. She is also survived by her brother, John.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerard; her mother, Helen; her stepfather, Franklin Pearce; and her sister, Virginia Elias.

Anne enjoyed a long and successful career with Macy’s Department Store, beginning at the Flatbush store in Brooklyn before moving to Macy’s headquarters at Herald Square in New York City, where she served as an executive assistant to senior leadership. She took great pride in her work and the relationships she built throughout her career.

Anne will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, deep Catholic faith, and the warmth she extended to everyone who entered her home. Family was always at the center of her life, and she created a home where people felt welcomed, loved, and cared for. Her generosity of spirit and unwavering devotion to those she loved will remain a lasting legacy.

A memorial service will be held on a date to be determined. Interment of ashes will take place at Long Island National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Anne’s memory to St.Jude Children's Research Hospital.
