Renate E Kupatt, 87, a resident of Brick, NJ, passed away on September 1, 2023. She was born in Berlin Germany, and survived the end of World War II and the Berlin blockade before emigrating to the United States. She is survived by her sons, Charles Christian Kupatt of Wilmington NC (Debra), William Robert Kupatt of Hopatcong, NJ (Holly), grandchildren Erika Gutowski of Apex , NC (Sean), Christian Kupatt of Morrisville, NC, Allison Kupatt of Raleigh, NC, great-grandchildren Evan and Emma, nephew Charles Pessler of St. Thomas USVI (Lillibet) and niece Barbara Pessler. In the years prior to and after retirement, Renate loved to travel to diverse locales around Europe and the Americas. Visiting family in NC was always a favorite activity. She was an avid and accomplished artist in later years, including winning various awards. She had a broad circle of friends in the Ocean County arts community, mahjong circle, and through volunteer work in various organizations. Some friends were long term colleagues from her working years. Renate was known to many as a strong person with a kind heart, as expressed by them during her quick illness. That strength carried her through many adversities; she always said “you do what you have to get by”. The contrast with the early struggles made her later years peaceful, and retirement that much more enjoyable. Grateful thanks to all the friends who provided support throughout her illness. She appreciated her many friends. A memorial service is planned prior to year’s end.
