Obituary
Thomas Joseph Greene
Thomas, born April 26, 1972, former resident of Chelsea, VT and Apex, NC passed away on April 4, 2025.
Thomas worked tirelessly for international students at several universities where he lived his core values of education, diversity, and inclusion. He helped students achieve their dreams of an education while providing a safe, fun, and enriching experience.
Thomas loved the outdoors including hiking, camping, and mountain biking. He traveled abroad extensively visiting Thailand, Italy, Spain, Morocco, Portugal, Bulgaria, and Ireland among others. He spoke several languages and enjoyed meeting people from around the world. At home, he took on cooking adventures in the kitchen and volunteer roles in the kids’ activities. He had a great passion for good music and seeing live shows.
He took great pride in his children and enjoyed taking our dog, Ruthie, for long walks. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him, as he touched so many lives.
He is survived by his deeply beloved children Henry Liam Greene and Adelaide Nola Greene, and their mother, Ashley Dale Greene. He is also survived by his parents, Charlie and Joan Greene, and his sisters Karen Peck (Samuel Peck) and Christine Cox (Thomas Cox). He will be dearly missed by numerous nieces, family members, and good friends.
Thomas’s Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the JC Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh, NC (4415 Beryl Rd) in the Ruby C. McSwain Education Center. There is parking on Beryl Rd in front of the Arboretum.
It will take place from 11am to 1pm, with a program beginning at 11:15am. There will be open time during the program to share memories and stories. If you are unable to make it, but would like to send in a memory, story, or thought to be read during the program, please email it to ashley.greene1@gmail.com
Thomas was most often seen wearing Converse shoes, and he would want all to be comfortable. You are invited to wear a pair of Converse if you have them; all are invited to come as you are and dress comfortably.
You are invited back to Ashley’s to continue sharing the good memories and stories 4-6pm at her house (1008 West Saint Julian Place, Apex). Especially for those visiting from out of town, feel free to also stop by Ashley’s on Sunday morning 9-11am for a coffee and pastry before heading home.
AND - Thomas had a full life and you were a part of it. Please send in a short video of yourself telling a favorite memory or story of Thomas (or several even!).
The purpose of this is to help me create a collection for our kids, Henry and Addie. I want them to know and remember their dad and all his funny, quirky, and even embarrassing moments - this is the gift you have that you can give to them.
This is just for our kids - this will not be shown at the Celebration in July. Please submit videos by July 20, 2025 by using this link: https://share.vidday.com/e/m-rdadnk
Facebook has funny algorithms and people might miss seeing this. I will post it several times between now and 7/19, and feel free to forward to anyone you think may have missed seeing it.
Thank you
