Obituary

Mark R. Cantwell, age 71 passed away on November 4, 2025 due to heart failure. He is survived by his wife of 44 years , Leslie nee Applegate, daughter Erin L. Cantwell of WestDeptford, and predeceased by his son Brian M. Cantwell. His immediate family includes sister Mary Brewer (Will), brother Matthew (Gail), sister Dr. Catherine Cantwell ( Dr.Kevin McCormick), numerous nieces and nephews, as well as Buddy the wonder dog.

Mark was raised in Basking Ridge, NJ and attended Delbarton Prep. He graduated from Glassboro St. College (Rowan) with a degree in criminal justice. He funded his tuition by working three part-time jobs while carrying a full academic load. His first job was in Camden, NJ, supervising juvenile offenders. and transitioned to the Gloucester County Probation Department rising through the ranks to achieve Master PO status. Our family settled in Clarksboro, NJ for over 20 years. Mark was involved in East Greenwich Twp sports, coaching both his kids. He was a member of the Gloucester Co. softball league for many years and later played in the over 40 hardball league. Mark was an athlete- a swimmer and football player at Delbarton. He enjoyed skiing, running, ultimate frisbee, golf and walking for exercise.

Mark retired at 52 and resided in Big Pine Key, FL. and Wildwood Crest, NJ attaining an endless summer lifestyle. He was an avid reader and NY Times crossword solver. Mark was friendly and social. He was an optimist at heart, although he was plagued by numerous medical issues in recent years and the loss of his dear son.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Wed Nov 12th at the National Park Boat Club from 5-8pm. (57 Riverview Ave.) Refreshments will be served, so join us to raise a glass to Mark
