Obituary

Lolabelle (Lou) Lorio 91, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, surrounded by the community that she loved.

Born on October 29,1934, Lou devoted her life to caring for others. She worked as a nurse for over four decades, bringing compassion and skill to every patient, friend, and neighbor that she encountered. Whether in a busy hospital ward or offering comfort in someone’s home, she treated each person with skill and left a lasting impression on countless families.

Lou’s commitment extended far beyond her profession. She was a devoted servant to her community, volunteering her time at numerous healthcare facilities and especially in her beloved Fellowship Village.

She was known for her fond memories of her time growing up on a farm. She often told stories to her grandchildren about her unique experiences as a child. Especially her dislike of strawberries, since it was her job to clean the crop every year.

Lou is survived by her daughters, Ann Greenberg and Mary Salica. She has nine beloved grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a wide circle of extended family, friends, and community members whose lives she touched. We find peace knowing that Lou has been reunited with her husband, John and her two sons August and John.

A funeral service will be held on May 19, 2026, at St James Church, 184 S. Finley Avenue Basking Ridge New Jersey. The funeral will begin at 11:00 am , visitation with family at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in her honor, reflecting the life she lived so fully in service to others.
