Obituary

Kenneth R Hammett Jr

Dec 10, 1966 - Jan 2, 2026

Kenneth Hammett, or just ‘Ken’, died peacefully on January 2nd in his home in Milford, PA. Raised in Jefferson, New Jersey where he got his high school diploma and is a William Patterson alumni receiving a Bachelors in Communications. He was also a member of the TKE fraternity. He spent time as a volunteer firefighter in both Newton, New Jersey and Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania. A hard worker, he also was a dispatcher at PENDOT in his later life and an associate at Home Depot.

Anyone close to Ken could tell you about his fascination and respect for the Beatles, knowing every song by them written. He had a deep love for animals like his predecease cat, Ziggy, and the environment, always insisting on recycling and ensuring that value on his children.

A dedicated son to Kenneth Sr. and his mother Harriet, a big brother to Chris, Heather and Mark, a loving father to his children Katie and Nick, and a friend to countless others, he will be celebrated and missed.

My heartfelt condolences to Kennys family and loved ones. We went to school together JTHS. I always felt that he had a special light about him and people may have misunderstood that. Through Facebook we reconnected and I had many off Social Media conversations with him about life and how to navigate through difficulties. He was a sweet and caring man and those that took the time to know him would see that. My heart breaks for the loss of yet another great classmate and I know that his spirit will carry on in my memory, and I will always smile when I think about him. May you forever rest in peace Kenny. Until we meet again. . .

It was honor and a privilege of mine to get to know Ken and have him be a member of our PennDOT Family. He was a responsible, dedicated and devoted public employee, a true friend to all and he left an indelible mark on all of us that knew him and he will be greatly missed. Please know full well our thoughts and prayers are with you all and that we will continue to ask for God's Grace to comfort you. Sincerely, Charles J. DeFebo
