Obituary

Kathryn Eileen (LoBianco) Mangano, affectionately known as Kathy, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at the age of 57. She was surrounded by her loving family at her home in Kenilworth, New Jersey.

Born on December 23, 1968, Kathy grew up in Kenilworth and graduated from David Brearley High School in 1986. Her early career as a cosmetologist brought her to salons in Westfield, New Jersey, where she formed many cherished friendships and built lasting connections with her clients.

Kathy later moved to Branchburg, New Jersey, where she would meet some of her best friends and began her most treasured role—raising her two daughters, Melanie and Lucia. The three shared an unbreakable bond and were truly inseparable. Kathy’s love for her daughters knew no bounds.

While continuing to share her talent for hairstyling with those around her, Kathy also became a full-time paraprofessional at Summit Speech School. This role held deep personal significance for Kathy as it was the same school that had supported Lucia during her early adaptation to a cochlear implant. Known lovingly as "Miss Kathy," she was adored by her students and colleagues alike. During the summer months, Melanie joined her mother at the school, creating even more special memories together.

Fifteen years ago, Kathy returned to Kenilworth with Melanie and Lucia.

Kathy was known for her vibrant personality—she was a live wire who loved trying new things, spending time at the Jersey Shore, shopping (especially anything leopard or cheetah print), and simply enjoying life to its fullest.

Kathy is survived by her beloved daughters Melanie and Lucia; her parents John and Eileen LoBianco; her sister Jennifer Gregersen and brother-in-law Steve; her brother John LoBianco and sister-in-law Donna; as well as her nephews Johnny, Nicky, Ryan, and niece Claire—all of whom adored their Aunt Kathy. She also leaves behind many cousins who brought joy to her life and countless friends from every stage of her journey. Kathy’s warmth and vivacious spirit left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of life will be planned at a future date in accordance with Kathy’s wishes—to honor the incredible person she was. In the meantime, a GoFundMe page has been established by Kathy’s colleagues to support Melanie and Lucia during this difficult time: (https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-kathy-mangano-and-her-family).

Kathy’s memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her. May the love she shared continue to bring comfort to those whose lives she touched so deeply.
