Joseph Robert Larkin April 15, 1980 – August 18, 2026

Joseph Robert Larkin, 46, of Clayton, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, following a difficult and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born on April 15, 1980, and raised in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Joe graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1998. He later lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before making his home in New Jersey. Joe shared 16 years of his life with his partner, Jenn. Together, they built a life filled with countless memories, including time with their furry best friend, Eclipse Void Wall.

Joe will be remembered for his curiosity about the world around him and his love of learning, especially in the areas of science and space. He also enjoyed music, movies, nature, and stargazing.

Joe is survived by his partner, Jennifer Sullivan of Clayton, New Jersey; his birth father, Robert VanHorn of Ocala, Florida; his aunt, Catherine Dileo-Lee of Sciota, Pennsylvania, and her family; his sister, Meghan Larkin; and Gary and Shirlee Sullivan and family of Clayton, New Jersey, who welcomed Joe into their family.

He was predeceased by his adoptive parents, Matthew and Barbara Larkin of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, and his birth mother, Donna Dileo of Saylorsburg, PA.

Joseph was cremated in accordance with his final wishes. At this time, no memorial service or celebration of life is planned. In keeping with the family’s wishes, donations are not being requested.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Joe and I went to high school together. He didn’t live too far from my parents home in East Stroudsburg. I always used to ride my bike to hang out with him and have sometimes stay for dinner at his adopted parents home. I can’t believe your gone Joe. We just spoke a few weeks ago and commiserated of our journeys with cancer. Hope to hang out with again on the other side buddy.

To the Larkin family, I am so sorry for your loss and am sending my deepest condolences. Joe and I attended middle and high school together and used to love sitting in the back of the bus on the way to school down the windy creek road and would laugh and yell when we hit all the big bumps and went flying. I will always remember that huge smile. He was always so kind and sweet. Rest in peace Joe and I am sending all the love and prayers to you and your family.
