Obituary

John F. Dally, 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Whiting, NJ on Monday, June 1, 2026, after a brave battle with ALS.

John grew up in Lyndhurst, NJ. A graduate of Lyndhurst High School and Montclair State University, he briefly worked as a physical education teacher and coach in the 1970s before changing careers to work in the gaming industry. For almost 30 years, John worked as a dealer, pit boss, shift manager, and casino manager at well-known casinos, including The Fremont and Caesars Palace in Las Vegas; Resorts, Bally's, Caesars, and The Sands in Atlantic City; and SunCruz Casino in Florida. After stepping away from gaming in the early 2000s, John worked as a loan officer for various mortgage companies in the Atlantic County area until his retirement.

John was athletic and loved sports. His enthusiasm for staying active and fit was evident in the countless days he spent in the gym. He enjoyed music, good food and drinks, and rowdy games of cards with his parents and brothers. But most of all, he loved spending time with his daughter, grandchildren, and life partner. Annual traditions of pumpkin and apple picking, visiting Storybook Land during the Christmas season, and spending summer days at the Ocean City Boardwalk or boating on Barnegat Bay brought him the greatest joy.

He will be forever missed by his cherished daughter, Michelle Bellenger, and her husband, Jody; his adored grandchildren, Kaylee and Jake Bellenger; his loyal brother, Frank Dally, and his wife, Janet; his beloved life partner, Cheryl Yee; and his nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his parents, George and Cecelia Dally, and his brother, George Dally. At John's request, there will be no wake or funeral services, only fond memories of good times spent together.
