Obituary

Donna Lynn (Sauerbaum) Hummel, 65, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with chronic illness.

Born on August 18, 1960, in Trenton, New Jersey, Donna was the beloved daughter of the late Patricia J. Harle Sauerbaum and Harry A. Sauerbaum. She spent her life devoted to those she loved most and, in recent years, made her home in McAlisterville, Pennsylvania.

On May 15, 1982, Donna married the love of her life, Bruce Hummel. Together they shared 44 wonderful years of marriage built on love, devotion, and family.

Donna was a loving and devoted mother to Krista Hummel; Steven and Nicole Hummel; Adam and Valerie Hummel; and Jenna and Shannon Clemens. She was an incredibly proud grandmother to Bruce, Jewel, Eloise, and Gwendolyn, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life. Nothing made Donna happier than spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she took immense pride in the family she helped build.

She is also survived by her loving siblings, Linda Berry; Lori and Sheldon Wyngard; Mark and Tammy Sauerbaum; and Christine and John McNamara, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and dear friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Patricia J. Harle Sauerbaum and Harry A. Sauerbaum; her brother, Harry “Hank” A. Sauerbaum Jr.; and her brother-in-law, Gerald Berry.

Those who knew Donna will remember her for her unwavering kindness, incredible strength, and selfless heart. Despite facing many years of serious medical challenges, she met each day with resilience and grace. She found comfort in reading books, crocheting, spending time in the mountains, and going on cruises. Donna also had a lifelong love for animals and opened her heart to many throughout her life, cherishing each one as a beloved member of the family. Her greatest joy, however, was always her family. She loved deeply, gave generously, and was the steady heart of her family. Her warmth, compassion, and quiet strength touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Jacksonville Community Center, 1791 Jacksonville Jobstown Road, Fieldsboro, NJ 08505. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and celebrate Donna’s life and the lasting impact she had on all who loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Donna’s memory.

Donna’s legacy lives on in the family she loved so fiercely. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her love, strength, and unwavering devotion will continue to guide those who knew her. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

My most sincere condolences to the family. I went to high school with Donna and have had her as a Facebook friend for years. I remember her as a very caring girl in school, with lots of personality. My heart goes out to you, her family.
