Obituary
Christopher Dayton Jones passed away on Monday, January 12th, at home, surrounded by his family. Chris was the loving husband of Anmarie Jones for 23 years.
Born on March 11, 1966, Chris was the son of Peter and Claudia Jones. He lived his entire life in the Lehigh Valley, a place he deeply loved. He graduated from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, where he became involved with Young Life and committed his life to Christ. His faith and calling to ministry took root during this time and remained central throughout his life.
After high school, Chris attended the University of Delaware, where he was actively involved in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Following his graduation, he returned to Bethlehem. After several years serving in Young Life ministry, Chris began a career as a science teacher with the Bethlehem Area School District, where he taught for more than 33 years.
Chris remained deeply involved in Young Life and other ministries throughout his life. It was through ministry that he met his wife, Anmarie, as they served together. Chris loved people and found joy in spending time outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, biking, snowboarding, and all outdoor activities, but he especially loved the beach.
Most recently, Chris was a dedicated member of Calvary Bible Fellowship Church in Coopersburg, where he faithfully taught Bible classes and served as an elder. He will be remembered as a man of grace who uplifted others and made them feel at ease.
Chris will be dearly missed by his wife, Anmarie; his children, Peter and Sarah; his parents, Peter and Claudia Jones; his brothers, Pete and his wife Paula, and Tom and his wife Phoebe; and his nieces and nephews, Drew, Audrey, Sam, Edie, Will, Ella, and Adele. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Marge Menichelli; his brothers-in-law, Vincent Menichelli and his wife Barbara Jean, and Peter Menichelli and his wife Bethany; along with nieces and nephews Vince, Will, Oliver, and Ella.
While his absence brings grief, his family finds comfort in knowing he is rejoicing in eternal life with Christ. Chris loved the Lord and lived a life rooted in faith, with a desire for others to know this same hope.
A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 17th at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, 6782 North Main Street in Coopersburg. If you would like to greet the family, time will be made available after the service in the Church Lobby.
