Obituary

In Loving Memory of Carmen A. Ciatto

1942 – 2025

Carmen Anthony Ciatto, 83, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, from complications

related to multiple sclerosis. A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and hard-

working provider, Carmen lived a life defined by quiet strength, deep humility, and

unwavering love for his family.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Carmen was the son of the late Francis Ciatto and Filomena

(Phyllis) Ciatto Garabo. He spent his life in Jersey City, where he worked for many years

installing and cleaning carpets, and later as a custodian in the Jersey City Public School

System. He was widely respected for his strong work ethic and the pride he took in every

task.

Carmen had a lifelong passion for cars and professional wrestling, and he enjoyed nothing

more than fixing things around the house. Whether it was a broken doorknob or a car in

need of tuning, Carmen could always be counted on to roll up his sleeves and get it done. He

was also a longtime member of the Clara Barton Senior Social Club and the Edison Rescue

Squad Auxiliary.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Diane Ciatto (née Zoller). Carmen and Diane’s

60th wedding anniversary is September 25, 2025 — a milestone that reflects a life of deep

partnership and enduring love.

Carmen is also survived by:

- His son Frank Ciatto and daughter-in-law Deanne, and their daughters Sophia, Francesca,

and Julianna

- His daughter Nanciann Tallarido and son-in-law Gerard, and their children Anthony and

Alexa Tallarido Ragni (Chris)

- His sister-in-law Linda Higgins and brother-in-law Robert Higgins, whose love and care

throughout Carmen’s illness were a great comfort to the family

-His brother Lawrence Ciatto and sister-in-law Diane

-His many friends from Jersey City and Edison

Carmen will be remembered for his loyalty, resilience, , and the deep love he had for his

family and friends. His presence will be missed beyond measure, but his spirit lives on in

those he cherished most.
