In Loving Memory of Burma L. Subrize

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Friend

Burma L. Subrize, affectionately known as “Mimi” and “Meme” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passed away on June 23, 2025, at the age of 84. She was a longtime resident of Toms River, New Jersey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alma Whesper, and her brother, Ronald Whesper.

Burma is survived by her beloved brothers Terry, Gilbert, John, and Ralph; her children Bonnie, Robbie, and Theresa; her stepdaughter Lucia; her grandchildren Kerri, Brian, Kyle, Chris, Robbie, Giovanni, and Conner; and her cherished great-grandchildren Nia, Luca, Miles, Nolan and Hunter.

One of six siblings, Burma had a strong faith and an even stronger presence. Her heart was as big as her personality—warm, giving, and endlessly selfless. She was involved in her community, proudly serving as a member of the Neighborhood Watch and worked to keep her neighborhood safe and connected. Her dedication made her a valued and respected member of the community.

She devoted much of her time to her family and helping others.

Burma touched countless lives and was deeply loved by all who knew her. Her passing leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of her family and friends, but her legacy of love, strength, and generosity will live on forever.

I was not related to Meme through blood, but I became family through the Forged bonds of great friends that eventually swung me into her path. Since, I have had the pleasure of knowing Meme for 14 years, and being graced by her love. Through those 14 years, I have come to know and understand certain immutable truths about her. One , that was perhaps the greatest, was the Meme was not just a person - she was solace. Her heart was shelter. Her love was endearing and steady, and her resolve was a teacher. Her presence in the family and the life of her friends spoke volumes forever etched into our souls, that will never relent in sounding their grace with each palpitation of our hearts. The sadness felt by her loss only marks the indelible and profound effect of her life. I know she will live on on all of us. Rest in peace, meme. . I love you, and I thank you for everything.

My great grandmother meme. I don't think I will ever understand your passing, I feel like I'm still waiting for you and I feel like everybody else is also waiting. You showed kindness and love to everybody in the family no matter the circumstances. You are the most lovely woman I think ever, you always believed in love and made others believe in it to. Besides your loving side you also had great humor. You are someone everybody can joke around with no matter what. I love you meme. - your beautiful blue haired girl. .

My dearest Aunt Burma, I will miss you very much. I have such great memories as a child playing at your house with Randy and all the cousins. I am beyond grateful that I was able to spend time with you recently. You're love and light will never be forgotten. I love you.

Meme, you were always there for so many people. Your heart knew no limits and you truly are the rock of this ever-growing family. You are the safe space, the foundation, the very heart that holds us all together. You endlessly gave so much of yourself to others making sure no one ever felt alone, went without new school clothes or their stomachs hungry. Meme I will always look up to you in so many ways. . . You were the root of tough love but always offered support and guidance while giving it. Lets not forget the true diva in you either! I've never seen anyone have such a genuine spark of glamour! Such class. Always put together going shopping or a night out. Another reflection of not vanity, but your whole philosophy of take your time, do it right. Her greatest pride however, was her family. Every milestone of her family a badge she wore proudly. A true role model. The strongest woman I ever knew. I will miss you deeply. THANK YOU for everything.
