April Lynn Booth

July 9, 1950 – September 24, 2026

April Lynn Booth, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Hunterdon Medical Center. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

April was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Ray Booth, a Vietnam veteran, her beloved son, Gerald Booth Jr., her grandson, James Smith III, her brother, Clifford Mueller, and her parents, Vera and Earl Mueller.

She is survived by her daughters, Tracy Smith and her husband, James Smith Jr., and Jennifer Novajosky and her husband, Daniel Novajosky. She is also survived by her sister, Karen Modafferi.

April was a proud and loving grandmother to Gerald Booth III, Dustin Smith, Jackson Novajosky, Nicholas Novajosky, and Alex Novajosky, and step-grandson, Michael Chambers. Her grandchildren brought tremendous joy to her life, and she treasured the time she spent with them.

April was also a proud aunt to many nieces and nephews.

April dedicated 30 years of her working life to the Newark Star-Ledger, where she built a long and meaningful career before retiring. She was also an active and devoted member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where her faith and church community were an important part of her life.

April loved keeping busy and enjoying life. She was an avid bowler and golfer, and a passionate sports fan, especially of her beloved Dallas Cowboys. She loved spending time with her family and friends, going to church, relaxing by the pool, and enjoying a good cocktail or two on Sundays. She also had a special love for her shopping trips to Walmart and Costco, where everyone seemed to know April, and April seemed to know everyone.

Above all, April loved her family. She will be remembered for her love of the people around her, her faith, her sense of routine and adventure, and the simple moments that brought her happiness. Her presence, laughter, traditions, and love will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A church memorial service celebrating April's life will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, located at 201 NJ-31, Flemington, NJ 08822.

Following the service, a Celebration of Life luncheon for April will be held at the home of Jennifer and Daniel Novajosky.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider making a donation to a charity that is special to you, as that would be especially meaningful and would honor April's memory.

Though she is no longer with us, April's love will live on through her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She will forever be loved, remembered, and missed.
