Nora Clarke Braddock (Nonnie) passed away on Oct. 26, 2023 at the age of 83. She is survived by her sons Brian and Glenn, her daughter-in-law Tricia, and her grandchildren Connor, Amelia and Maira. She was predeceased by her parents Ben and Nora Clarke, her husband Eugene, her son Stephen, and her daughter-in-law Roseann. Nonnie was born and raised in Rye, New York and later moved to Yorktown Heights, New York where she and Eugene raised their three sons. She was very involved with Saint Patrick’s parish and thrived in a career that included roles such as city clerk, small business owner, and executive in Stephen’s security and private investigation company. Nonnie was involved in various charitable organizations which led to her accepting the position of Administrator for the Gilbert Beaver Conference and Retreat Center. She organized Christian unity and interfaith programs, retreats, and outreach events. She began the Angel Fund which provided food, clothing, and Christmas presents for hundreds of children each year, and a coat drive, delivering warm winter wear to the homeless in New York City. She was a proud member of the Yorktown Heights Clergy Council and welcomed people of all faiths to the Center for nights of fellowship and dialogue. During her decades of service she touched the lives of thousands, many of whom she never met in person, and was a friend to everyone who came to her for counsel or spiritual care. Nonnie was the proud daughter of Irish immigrants and was herself a dual citizen of Ireland and the United States. She moved to Lake Placid, Florida when she retired and joined Saint James Catholic parish where she continued to make dear friends and to do ministry work responding to the needs of hurricane victims and the homeless. An avid reader her entire life, and known for her ability to read a book a day, she never hesitated to put her books or anything else aside to lend a compassionate ear to a friend in turmoil, a helping hand to a stranger in need, or to be a supportive presence to her sons during good and not-so-good times. She will be remembered for all of these things, and for her warm heart and always welcoming smile. She was loved and will be greatly missed.
