Gary Anthony Molil, 69, of Jersey City passed away September 5, 2023 after a years long battle with cancer. Born in Jersey City, Gary grew up in North Bergen and Fort Lee where he became an accomplished trumpet and piano player. Gary had a life long love of music and at the age of ten became the youngest person to conduct a band at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York. After graduating from Fort Lee High School, Gary became a certified scuba instructor and a licensed gun dealer. His day job was in the pharmacy industry where he brought a witty sense of humor and good cheer to work every day. After retiring, Gary grew out his beard and worked as a safety officer for the Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority. One day, Gary was approached by a talent scout and was signed on as a real beard Santa Claus actor. Santa Gary performed throughout the tri-state area and was such a natural that friends and neighbors who visited Santa at local venues didn’t know it was him. In his spare time, Gary fished as much as he could. He knew every fishing spot from upstate New York to down the Jersey shore. When not fishing on the ocean or at his lake house in the Poconos, Gary would build and restore fishing reels for himself and others and amassed quite a collection of them. Gary is predeceased by his parents, Victorio Tomolillo and Antonia D’Andrea and his animals who adored him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Andrea, his stepdaughter and son-in-law, Mackenzie and Maxwell Graham, his grandson Thelonious and ten brothers and sisters in law. Cremation was provided by Apyre Cremation Services. A private repast is scheduled for Sunday, September 10th.
