It was a dark and stormy night on Feb. 18th, 2023 when Bonita (Bonnie) Lea Upton shuffled off this mortal coil (okay, okay, it was actually pleasant and mild that evening but how poetic is that?). Though saddened by her passing, we expect she is already creating a ‘stir’ in the life beyond.  Bonnie attended the Centennial School District and Penn State University. She later returned to Centennial to teach English and — never anything less than a force of nature — was a spokesperson during the infamous ‘75 Centennial teachers’ lockout and eventually became a spokesperson for the State of Delaware teachers. After a stellar career as a teacher and teachers’ representative, Bonnie transitioned to a career in the healthcare information systems industry, first at Shared Medical Systems and later as a partner with her husband, Jim Coppock, in their own company. She is predeceased by husband Jim, brother Billy, sister Vicky, and canine Lucky.  We now await confirmation of the afterlife because, as friends of Bonnie know, she would never go ‘quietly’ into that good night.
