Dennis L. Dufour Jr., cherished for his warmth, humor, and kind heart, passed away unexpectedly on December 1, 2024, at the age of 52. Those close to Dennis knew of the health challenges he faced, which had worsened in recent years, yet he met them with courage and an unwavering spirit. Born on December 4, 1971, in Metairie, Louisiana, Dennis was the son of Dennis L. Dufour Sr. and Bonnie J. Dufour (McRae). He grew up in a loving household, graduating from Union Catholic High School in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, in 1989. During high school, he formed a lifelong bond with his best friend, Robert Panek, whose friendship remained a source of joy and support throughout Dennis’s life. Dennis’s early career included an internship with the FBI in New York, a testament to his ambition and dedication. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Kaplan University and went on to leave his mark in diverse roles. He spent 15 years at PNC Bank in Plainfield, where he earned the respect of colleagues and customers alike. Later, as a Site Ambassador at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Carteret, Dennis’s positivity and generosity touched countless coworkers. His smile, genuine encouragement, and knack for connecting with people left a lasting impression on many. Dennis was also a man of passions. He was an avid gamer, embodying the joy and camaraderie of the gaming community. Beyond that, he was a talented writer and published author, having penned two novels: Deadworld and Child of Darkness, Child of Light (both published in 2008). His creativity and love for storytelling were reflections of his vibrant inner world. Dennis’s compassion extended beyond his immediate circles to his dedication to wildlife conservation and humanitarian causes. In his memory, the family encourages donations to organizations supporting these causes, which were so dear to his heart. Dennis was predeceased by his beloved mother, Bonnie J. Dufour (McRae). He leaves behind his father, Dennis L. Dufour Sr.; his stepmother Camille A. Dufour (DiMaggio): his sister, Dawn E. Dufour; his brother, David T. Dufour; and countless friends and colleagues who will remember him fondly. In true Dennis fashion, no formal services are planned. Instead, his loved ones honor his legacy by celebrating his life through the memories and smiles he brought to those around him. Dennis’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
